Privacy policy

Last updated October 6, 2026

This policy explains what information designsbytheshores.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. The site is run by Denise Tsujisaka, doing business as Paintings by Denise, in California. Questions about this policy can go to Denise through the contact page.

What the site collects

When you send a message. The contact form asks for your name, your email address, and your message, plus the title of a painting if you are asking about one. The site does not store your message. It is delivered as an email to Denise through Microsoft Azure Communication Services, and it stays in her inbox, which is hosted by Google, for as long as it is useful for answering you.

When you join the mailing list. The site stores your email address, the date you signed up, and the date you confirmed. Nothing is added to the list until you open the confirmation link sent to your inbox. The list is stored in Microsoft Azure in the United States.

When you place an order. Checkout is handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your name, email address, shipping address, and card details, and it sends the site your name, email address, shipping address, and what you bought, so the order can be filled. Card details never reach this site. The site keeps a record of each order (your name, email address, phone number, shipping address, what you bought, and the order’s status) so it can send you updates and Denise can fill it. Order records are kept by Stripe, by the site, and in Denise’s email for as long as needed for taxes, returns, and accounting, which is usually seven years. If you reserve a painting on exhibit, the show’s organizer is asked whether the painting is still available. The organizer is told the title of the painting, not who you are.

When you ask to hear when something is available. If a painting is on hold or an item is sold out, you can leave your email address to get one email when it can be bought again. The site stores your address, the item, and the date. The entry is deleted when that email is sent, or after one year.

Page view counts. The site counts how many times each page is viewed each day. It records only the page address and the date. It does not record your IP address or any other detail about you, and it does not use cookies. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is counted.

Information our hosting provider handles. The site and its images are hosted by Microsoft Azure. Like any web host, Azure receives technical information such as your IP address and browser type in order to deliver pages and protect the service against abuse. Microsoft handles that information under its own privacy terms.

Cookies

The site does not set cookies for visitors. Your cart is saved in your own browser’s storage and is never sent to the site until you check out. Stripe’s checkout page, which is run by Stripe, uses its own cookies to process payments and prevent fraud. The only cookie the site uses is a short-lived one during the site owner’s sign-in to the editing area.

How the information is used

Order details are used to fill, ship, and support your order, to send you updates about it, and to keep the records the law requires. Messages are used to answer you. Waitlist addresses are used only for the one email about that item. Mailing list addresses are used only to send news about new paintings and upcoming shows. Page view counts are used to see which pages are popular.

Your information is never sold, rented, or shared for advertising. The site shows no ads and uses no outside analytics or tracking services.

Who else handles it

  • Microsoft Azure hosts the site, stores the mailing list, and delivers contact form messages.
  • Google hosts Denise’s email inbox.
  • Stripe processes payments and keeps order records, under its own privacy policy.
  • Pirate Ship buys shipping labels and receives your name, address, email address, and phone number to create the label and send you tracking.
  • Shipping carriers receive your name and address to deliver your order.

How long it is kept

Mailing list entries are kept until you unsubscribe. When you do, your entry is deleted, not just marked inactive. A sign-up that is never confirmed may be deleted at any time. Messages are kept in the inbox for as long as they are useful for answering you.

Your choices

  • Leave the mailing list with the link at the bottom of any email from the list.
  • Leave a waitlist by asking through the contact page. Otherwise, the entry is deleted after its one email or after a year.
  • Ask what is held about you, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted, through the contact page.
  • Stop page view counting by turning on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser.

Do Not Track

The site honors Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals by not counting your page views.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent information through the site, say so through the contact page and it will be deleted.

Security

The site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Full-size scans of paintings and the mailing list are stored privately. No system is perfectly secure, but reasonable steps are taken to protect what is collected.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
